When gambling behavior interferes with finances, relationships and the workplace, a serious problem already exists. Anyone who gambles can develop problems. Therefore, it is important to be aware of the risks.  

Connect the Dots

  • Money missing from bank accounts, wallet/purse, or money jar 
  • Borrowing money on a regular basis 
  • Being secretive about financial records and pay slips 
  • Unpaid bills/disconnection notices 
  • Reporting feeling hopeless, depressed, frustrated, or suicidal 
  • Worrying, agitated, or upset for no apparent reason 
  • Becoming withdrawn from others/family event


  • Have you ever tried to stop, cut down or control your gambling? 
  • Have you ever lied to family members, friends or other about how much you gamble or how much money you lost gambling? 
  • Have there been periods of two weeks or longer when you spent a lot of time thinking about your gambling experiences or planning future gambling ventures or bets? 
  • Answer yes to any of these questions? Take the next step. 
  • Explanation of treatment options and reimbursement programs. No out-of-pocket cost treatment is available to the gambler, family members, and concerned others who reside in Kansas.
  • Referral and contact information for certified problem gambling counselors near you.

Those who have gambling problems or who are concerned about their gambling have the option to exclude themselves from the casinos.
