Alcohol Awareness Month is an important time for everyone to learn more about the risks, effects, and consequences of drinking alcohol. It is also a time to recognize the power of addiction and how it can affect individuals and families. Learn more about the resources available to those affected by alcohol misuse, and to work together to create a healthier, safer environment for everyone.
This year, “Empower Yourself; Make a Change.”

Short-term effects can include impaired motor coordination, slurred speech, memory loss, and increased risk of injuries. Long-term effects can include liver disease, heart disease, depression, anxiety, and cancer.
Many situations may lead to domestic violence.

If someone is misusing alcohol, the best way to help is to be supportive and provide them with resources. You can offer to help them find treatment and provide emotional support. It’s important to also be aware of your own safety and boundaries.
